ReHouse Bay

In the wake of Hurricane Michael, the lack of affordable housing has emerged as the most pressing challenge for communities in Bay County.

The Florida Legislature recently appropriated more than $36 million in funding to Bay County and the City of Panama City to address unmet housing needs through the Hurricane Housing Recovery Program (HHRP) and the State Housing Incentive Partnership (SHIP). ReHouse Bay programs are currently underway to help survivors access affordable housing; County and City staff are working to quickly and efficiently distribute all available housing assistance funds.

In an effort to reach as many eligible survivors as possible, Bay County and Panama City launched ReHouse Bay to raise public awareness about available programs. ReHouse Bay covers all of Bay County, including all municipalities and unincorporated Bay County.

ReHouse Bay covers a variety of programs – from repair or reconstructing hurricane-damaged houses to supporting first-time homebuyers to make a down payment on a home – designed to help provide affordable housing solutions for Bay County residents. Each ReHouse Bay program has specific income and eligibility requirements that must be met by applicants, and may not be right for everyone’s housing needs.
